This hourly position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for operating all processing equipment, including forklift operation at optimum efficiencies, quality and safety.

Monday-Friday Regular shift 11pm-7am with expected overtime as needed

$16 + $1.50 Shift Premium

Responsible to conduct the proper start-up operation and shut down of all processing equipment, operate the processing equipment under prescribed operating and safety procedures. Operate material handling equipment as prescribed under company safety procedures. Conduct prescribed process control tests with accuracy and notify supervision when operation is unsafe to be brought back under control. Assist with material handling, facility maintenance, shipping and receiving, and quality assurance as required. Make recommendations on improving processing procedures, equipment and material handling in areas of efficiencies and safety. Operate outside your classification as needed and handle all raw materials for processing as prescribed by company safety procedures.

General Responsibilities:

Perform part inspection per written control plan, including visual checks and variable & attribute gaging.

Quality Responsibilities:

• Support group on quality and process issues (consensus decision-making).
• Use various measuring equipment to measure parts, such as; micrometers, calipers, gage pins, height gage, and micro-vu.
• Input SPC/SQC data and take corrective action on any points out of control.
• Input In-process inspection results into computer.
• Input SPC/SQC data in computer per control plan.
• Initiate and document corrective action on any points out of control.
• Perform final inspection and initiate & document corrective action on any part nonconformance's. 
• Follow all company procedures and work instructions.
• Assure that housekeeping is maintained at an acceptable level.
• Participate in the continuous improvement program with team members to resolve issues that are blocking productivity gains.
• Include description, timing and responsibility.

summary of duties:

1) Maintenance of the machine

• Check fluid levels indicated by maintenance check sheet located at your station
• Fill out maintenance log as required by check sheet

2) Run first piece to be inspected

• Power up machine (if necessary)
• Check fluid levels per instructions
• Check with lead operator or supervisor to ensure that the program being used is the one needed to run your job
• Check all tooling 1) any questions, contact a lead operator or supervisor
• Run the first piece
• 1) Dimensionally check part for correctness per instructions
• 2) Take part to quality control for approval
• Any necessary changes to be made, contact a lead operator or supervisor

3) Start days production run

• Check with supervisor to find out number of pieces needed to run for this job
• Run the job complete for your operation or until next shift arrives after first piece approval

4) Clean work area daily

• The operator is to keep the work center free from trash and debris
• Mop area if needed
• Wipe machine down (as needed)

5) Other items as required by supervision

• Supervision may require the operator to perform other duties outside of those listed above
• When doing other work, perform those duties according to its job description

6) Goals

• A lathe or mill operators goal should be to complete the matrix training for their advancement into a lead operator position
